TOWN OF STAVELY, ALBERTA TAKES ACTION TO PROVE SMALL TOWNS DESERVE WORLD CLASS INTERNET CONNECTIVITY

After a citizen-led push, Axia confirms a multi-million-dollar investment to build top performing fibre optic network across the entire community

Calgary, AB - Today, residents of Stavely, Alberta join a number of towns across the province to proving that rural communities want competitive, top-performing connectivity. To date, many households and businesses have relied on dial-up, and after a wave of community support, they will soon be able to connect at the speed-of-light as Axia begins to roll out a fibre optic network throughout the town, attaching it to a global grid.

Once complete, residents will have access to unrestricted, speed-of-light Internet that will radically improve their quality of life, access to cloud-based services and entertainment, and will provide fuel for economic development as people and businesses are able to promote and connect to communities and markets anywhere in the world.

The fibre optic network expansion into Thorsby is part of Calgary-based Axia’s commitment to introducing competitively priced, state-of-the-art fibre optic Internet services to rural Alberta. This future-proof technology means residents will have robust network capacity and speed, eliminating online delays while offering symmetrical upload and download speeds. It also means reliable availability of IPTV, Internet phone calls and numerous other cloud based services offering feature rich options for markedly less money than existing legacy offerings.
